I built YearWorks because I needed it.
I’m Tristan Richards. I teach AP World History and coach high school soccer in Texas.
I’m also a husband, dog dad to two, and a triathlete in training.
I love teaching. I love coaching. And I want to be the best I can be at both. But there are only so many hours in a day.
Coaching regularly takes me out of the classroom. Testing takes days. School events happen. A lesson takes longer than I thought it would. Kids need another day. And the AP Exam stays exactly where it is.
I got tired of rebuilding my pacing every time the calendar changed.
So I built YearWorks.
I wanted something that could look at my actual school calendar, the AP Exam, where my class really was, and help me figure out the year from there. And when the year changed again, I wanted the plan to change with it.
That’s really it.
I’m still teaching AP World. I’m still coaching. I’m still training. I’m still trying to get everything done and get home to my wife and our two dogs at the end of the day. And I’m using YearWorks in my own classroom.
Right now, when you email YearWorks, you’re emailing me. I read the support tickets. I answer the questions. And when a teacher finds something that isn’t working, I want to know about it.
YearWorks is still growing, and I’m building it the same way I teach: listen, adjust, make it better, and keep going.
If it can save another teacher some time, help them feel a little more prepared, and give them a little more time for whatever matters outside their classroom, then it’s doing what I built it to do.
