Privacy at YearWorks

Effective September 8, 2026 · Version privacy-2026-09-08.v2

This is our own plain statement of what we collect and why. It makes no certification or compliance claim. If anything here isn’t what you expected, tell us through Contact YearWorks.

Four separate paths, kept separate

A private invitation. If you were invited to the current beta, you create an account with your email address and we store your name, email, the plans you build, and the school calendar you give us. That is the only path that creates an account or a teaching year.

The Early Access List. If you join the Early Access List we store your name, email, what you teach, and your school or district if you give it, along with the date you joined and where you are in our list. It is used for one thing: to let you know when YearWorks opens to new teachers on October 1, 2026. It creates no account, no plan, and no access, and there is no charge or trial attached to it.

Future-beta interest. If you tell us what you teach, we store your email, the courses you selected, your role, when you could test, and anything optional you chose to write. It is used to decide which courses to build next and when to contact you. It never creates an account, a plan, or access.

Support. If you write to us we store your name, email, your message, any screenshot you attach, and which page you were on.

What you make in YearWorks stays yours

Your lessons, notes, and uploaded school calendar belong to you. We store and process them only to run the service for you: building your plan, showing it back to you, and sending a lesson where you ask it to go. We don’t claim ownership of them and we don’t use them to train anything or to advertise to you.

Confirming your email

A future-beta entry only becomes real when you click the link we email you. The link works once and expires after 72 hours. We never store the link itself, only a one-way fingerprint of it, which is erased the moment you confirm.

YearWorks opens to new teachers on October 1, 2026. AP World History and AP U.S. History are available now, and your interest will help us decide which courses YearWorks should support next.

How long we keep things

DataKept forWhat happens
Unconfirmed interest submissionsNot deleted when the link expires; kept during the Beta recruitment period so the founder can follow up. A permanent retention period has not been set yet.An expired confirmation link stops working, but your submission is not deleted. Expiration never sends another email automatically. Any new confirmation invitation requires an explicit action by the founder or an admin. How long these records are kept will be set by the final YearWorks privacy policy.
Confirmation recordsCleared at confirmation; the empty stub is deleted after 30 daysThe confirmation token and submitted text are erased the moment you confirm. Only the confirmed entry survives.
Abuse-prevention records24 hoursOnly a one-way hash is stored - never a raw IP address - and it is then deleted.
Screenshots attached to a message12 months, or immediately if the message is deletedThe file is removed from private storage. It is never publicly linkable.
Future-beta entriesKept while the beta programme is active; deleted within 30 days of a requestRemoval deletes the entry and its course interests together.
Anonymous usage counts13 monthsDeleted. These rows contain no names, emails, or free text by construction.

A cleanup routine runs every day at 03:15 UTC and enforces exactly the periods in this table, including deleting screenshot files from private storage.

Analytics

We count anonymous things: how many people opened the homepage, chose the invitation path, or submitted interest. Those counts carry no name, email, school, free text, account, or plan. The system cannot accept them. They are deleted after 13 months.

The public YearWorks website uses the Meta Pixel to measure visits and successful Early Access signups. These events do not include your name, email, school, or other information you enter into the signup form. Meta may still receive technical information associated with the visit, such as browser information and the page viewed.

What we don’t do

We do not sell your personal information or provide the information you enter into YearWorks to advertisers for their own marketing. Your plans, lessons, and school calendar belong to you.

Removing your information

Ask through Contact YearWorks and we’ll delete your future-beta entry, with its course selections, within 30 days. If you have an account, tell us and we’ll remove it and its plans too.
